Islands of Song

Music is part of the culture in Fiji. As a visitor, you are welcomed with a warm rendition of Bula Maleya when you arrive, every meal is accompanied by live music, and there is a lament of Isa Lei when you depart.

Here is one song, as played during dinner one of the staff at the Waya Lailai Resort.  The singer starts with a bowl of kava, and then he begins to sing. The beauty of his voice even overcomes the dinner-time chatter going on around me.
